Chapter 1 - Session 7

Treading out of the forest and tired from battling the undead, they can see the walls of Trisfal in the distance. The trail ahead was not clear, they spotted a pair of orcs rustling in the orchard field between them and the city. An incantation muttered in guttural Orcish is followed by a wave of fire that threatens the crop fields of Diana's childhood home. As the flames crept forward our heroes scrambled to control the burn.

The fire is turned to smoke, only losing about a third of the crops, but those responsible for the blaze have escaped.

The rising smoke tipped off a hunting party from Trisfal. At first they accused the group of causing the inferno, but were convinced that yet another band of Orcs were to blame. With the new understanding we are escorted to the walled city of Trisfal.

A once lovely place to live is now mostly abandoned with the exception of a few hardy residents and the acolytes of Maliclane, the Gold Dragonborn Goddess of Protection. A thick fog floods the streets obscuring the whereabouts of those who still call this home. It isn't long until we learn of the true purpose of the fog. An alarm is raised as upon the nearby cliff side rows of Orcs unleash arrows to barrage their enemies below. A rain of piercing steel comes down striking anything in their path. The citizens of Trisfal dart around hoping the haze envelopes them making them harder targets for the incoming attack.

Nite and Diana witness victims of the barrage and rush to bring those in need of aid to the nearby Church of Maliclane to offer medical help.

The towering walls of the church are not only a safe harbor to the injured, but also house the legacy of Diana's mother who was a proud member and who trained as a Paladin within their ranks until her sudden disappearance. Diana's curiosity about her mother's whereabouts were only restrained by her distrust for anyone outside the Order of Hekate, who saw her through her more tender years. She spoke with an unease towards the church's most devote as she prodded with questions about what may have happened and where her mother had gone.

It is Reverend Zodrik, the leader of the Church of Maliclane who extends an offer to Diana, but only in exchange for assistance against the Orc forces. A plan is to be drawn up the next day after the injured have been looked for and a well needed rest is had.
