Shadows of the Empire

The world of Dytora…

The continent of Ilomiun (ah-lom-e-on-) is home to a vast number of nations. However the orcs of the Cha’Geth seek the change that. 20 years ago they started their march from the Searing Craig conquering everything in sight. Under the iron grip of Warlord Kazard Hellscream they pushed north crowding out the dwarfs of the Oxtrie Peaks, pillaged the lands across the Decaying Fields, and marched westward through The Scar. As the Cha’Geth empire grows Warlord Hellscream appoints 4 Generals to oversee their new territory, each more crushing than the last.

The Cha’Geth’s first breach beyond the scar set the other nations on alert and war became the norm. The nearby nations of in the Athaval Fields soon fell to the horrors of war. Once peaceful societies now turn savage and territorial. Friends are hard to come by and trust is rare.

As the orcs march on, our heroes find themselves in the middle of an increasingly divided and dangerous world.

In the parallel world of Ilowinu (il-oh-win-u) the souls of the fallen walk the land. A place where the sun is hidden from view, but the sky glows with an ever present dull yellow giving everything a ghastly hue.

All the familiar landmarks from Ilomiun still remain, however hold unfamiliar characteristics to those who now call this world home.

Those unfortunate enough to come to Ilowinu spend their time in endless monotony where days don’t pass, hunger never comes, and colors never change. The only break in the nothingness comes once a month when even the moon disappears casting darkness in all corners or the world for an entire day.

The souls that end up here have their essences eventually broken down until nothing is left but the core emotion they felt during life. It is then when The Collectors come and complete the cycle.

Meet the Heroes…

Fyrn Cindersoul - Fire Genasi Cleric of the Forge

Originally known as Melody Forger, born to Cassandra and Vander in the city of Marquet. Melody watched her father who was a well-known weapon smith as she grew up. Her family paid homage to the God of the Forge Moradin to grant them guidance as they strike steel.

Towards the beginning of the orc invasion their town felt a shift in the air. Orders for weapons came pouring in, but this uplift to the town’s economy would soon be met the crashing of orcs obliterating everything. Melody’s house shook in the turmoil until it collapsed, trapping her under burning rubble.

When Melody’s eyes opened she found her self upon the Fire Plane, face to face with Moradin. The god has reforged the body and blessed her with divine powers. Now standing as a Fire Genasi Cleric of the Forge, Melody is now Fyrn Cindersoul.

Vlaliskia Egorov - Copper Dragonborn Gloomstalker

Born in a time of peace Vlaliskia had loving and kind parents who suddenly had to abandoned her one tragic evening. Vlaliskia doesn't know if they are dead, prisoners of war, or happy on a far away land, but she tries not to think about it. She never made close friends and kept to herself after the war began.

She learned quickly how to provide for herself and roamed the lands as a lone, creep, stalking in the darkness, thieving what she needed to survive, no purpose, no friends, just observation and solitude. She prides herself in being discrete and undiscovered, hates attention, even though her most interesting skill is about being VERY loud.

About ten years ago, she found herself injured after a fight causing Vlalikia to lose the use of her left leg. A group of very organized women from the forest took her in to heal, the order of Hekate. This new feeling of belonging and acceptance drew her in. She did not care one way or another for Hekate or their mission, but loved being a part of something. Soon after, she met Nite and became enamored. They have an odd relationship, but it seems to work out for them both.

Yew “Diana” Maidensword - Aasimar Oath of Vengeance Paladin

Grew up in the capital city of Trisfal located in the eastern part of the Sage Falls. Her mother Erika was part of the militia for Trisfal and took part of fighting back the initial Orc attacks.

When Diana was 7, her mother whisked her away from Trisfal and left her at the new by Pale Temple with the Order of Hekate with nothing more than Erika's broken greatsword.

Diana has grown up knowing that she has a strange connection to the moon floating over, but this relation is not fully understood. Diana now travels with her compatriots to defend the Order's lands against the encroaching Orcs. Wielding her mother's broken greatsword, her friend Fyrn tells Diana the sword is made of Runic steel which is known for being impossible to break. Diana keeps her eyes open for the remaining pieces around he world to hopefully mend the fractured blade.

Aconite “Nite” Morningstar - Pallid Elf Way of the Long Death Monk

The 7th daughter of a High Priestess for the Order of Hekate, Nite was raised buried in the West Luneda Wilds. As a child the order practiced witchcraft, alchemy, and healing arts keeping nature in balance. As the Orc invasion crept beyond the Razor Cliff Peaks the order had to take up arms and turned into brutal fighters.

Caught in this transition Nite has developed a wall towards strangers and anything not made by her own hands. She has a fierce loyalty towards Diana who her elders have tasked her with watching over as Diana has a strange link to other worlds that is not yet understood.

Nite does have a rather odd relationship with the dragonborn Vlaliskia as each other performs strange acts of affection.
