Chapter 1 - Session 8

A new morning shines over the fog-covered city of Trisfal and a meeting with the Sentinels of Maliclane is first on the agenda. Within the towering walls of the church they approach Reverend Zodrick who is standing with Sentinels Donovan and Yorham. Sentinel Donovan greets everyone with a handshake and a quick prayer, a prayer that branded those with a Blessing from Maliclane. Nite refuses to accept the blessing as she is one with Hekate and does not want to risk spiritual conflict.

With everyone in attendance, Reverend Zodrick turns to the statue of Maliclane and ushers a golden glow to fill the room encasing everybody in a protective aura as sensitive matters were to be discussed. Fyrn and Vlaliskia dive into what details they know about the Orcs and their continued push westward.

Nite and Diana however appear to have a hard time joining the conversation. The voices of those within the aura appear to be muffled and incoherent. Donovan explains to Nite it is Maliclane's blessing to protect information away from potential enemies, and without accepting the blessing this is to be expected. Diana is confused however as she did take the blessing but she does not seem to feel accepted by the Protector Goddess.

It was agreed that the gaps of information would be filled in outside the church as a plan is drawn up to take down the orc Chieftain Dumag Hackhand and stop his destructive march. A tall order to fulfill with an entire army between us and the goal.

Zodrick has tasked a cleric from their ranks Custodian Benjamin to accompany our heroes on their journey and provide assistance where he can. This addition to the group initially does not sit well with Nite and Diana, but Fyrn does get them to reluctantly agree; with a condition. They look to recruit the dwarf ranger that found them in the orchard Yowtrude and bring her along as balance to the pious cleric.

They found her training in the grassy field wrestling with her bear. Out in the field they are surprised by the appearance of someone who claimed to know who they were but had an unfamiliar form. The only recognizable features were a pelt of a black cat draped over the shoulders of this young gnome and their name. Ogden, the name of an old fighter they battled with not too long ago, apparently holds this form and full of spite.

The gnome’s endeavor to reclaim their title of Champion was dashed with almost everyone jumping in to defeat Ogden. This encounter being less of a duel and more of a dog-pile.

Victory comes only to have this body disappear within the magic of the pelt again.

For now, our heroes take step back toward the forest of the Sage Falls to see how Mewer was doing with his experiments.
