Chapter 3 - Session 13a
Awakening to a bleak yellow sky, our fallen heroes lay bare on the harsh terrain of an unfamiliar land. Seeking guidance, Nite and Diana pray to Hekate. Although Diana's devotion appears to fall on deaf ears, Nite is graced with the directive of searching for Hekate's acolyte.
Taking stock of everyone's state shows a mental toll has impacted everyone, but what is more troubling is the absence of Fyrn. The genasi is seemingly the only one to have escaped this new prison. Is she still alive? Did she overcome Dumag?
Gazing out across the region, landmarks from their home dot the horizon. Each somehow appears different and corrupt. The sky is bright as day, though it shows no sun. A soft wind blows, yet nothing sways. Everyone feels weary, but are not struck with hunger.
Standing upon the precipice where they were struck down, a view of what could be a populated city peeks out in the distance towards the sands to the south. The location once known as Fyrn’s hometown of Marquet which stood as a pinnacle of construction, now features low and wide spread of adobe and mud structures.
Following the road down the hill also reveals a group of goblins roughhousing. Vlaliskia, bare and bored, runs towards the commotion. With her approach the goblins stop and look at the dragon born with a face of recognition. This pack of goblins were once foes of our heroes, recently slain in combat. It appears any animosity from the encounter has dissolved as Vlaliskia befriends Lynlyn the goblin and asks them to travel alongside the group south.
With bare backs and empty hands, the troupe begin their hike towards the only semblance of civilization in sight. The somber horizon in their path lays bare the movement of monstrous dark figures resembling crazed beasts traveling in packs that near surround the party. Unusual and aggressive creatures make the act of a restful sleep a near impossibility while out in the open.
As they approach the settlement, the short clay buildings start to become hidden behind a tall dirt wall guarding the city. A city where our heroes hope for safety and salvation within the hostile new world.
