Chapter 2 - Session 11

Smoke from Trisfal lingers low across the horizon, muffling the hollering Orcs in the distance as our heroes make their way through the fields. Vlaliskia awakens still tied to Bram, only making the faintest movements to get some food in her belly without being noticed. There is something else that has grabbed everyone's attention just ahead.

Trash and random assorted items piled high are being meticulously sorted through by a small gang of Goblins. The small wrinkly creatures have a penchant for working for the highest bidder and currently appear to be under the employ of the Cha'Geth Orc Empire. Diana spots the priority in the group, a goblin across the way acting as sentry with a horn to call for reinforcements. She drinks deep of her Invisibility elixir and begins her approach.

Everyone else finds themselves in the middle of a nasty scuffle. The goblins dodge and hide within the grass and piles of junk, evading most of the attacks thrown at them.

With jagged teeth they dog pile onto Nite. Grins and cackles erupt from their faces as they rip into her flesh. Rocks from seemingly every direction pelt Fyrn in an endless barrage. Benjamin and Yowtrude have a hard time getting a bead on nimble assailants. The commotion gives Diana just enough time to strike down the sentry, assuring this wouldn't get too out of hand.

A drawn out skirmish finally comes to a close, with that comes investigating what the Goblins have in the piles. Sifting through scraps of leather, heaps of glass, and the occasional prize. They appear to have been looking for anything of value to deliver to their superiors.

The knolls of Arath Foothills lead on closer to the Orc's fort, Outpost Veil. Sun now setting the group searches for a place for one more rest before their assault. A partially covered ledge provides just barely enough room to make camp. Diana steps out and flies up to the sky to do one more check to see if there is trouble nearby. Trouble finds her as her Aasimar's glow twinkles against the blackened rain clouds in the night sky.

One more fight, one more coming battle to fend off the nearing patrol. A coordinated ambush jumps onto the makeshift campsite. Seeing as there is no way out of this, Diana, Benjamin, and Fyrn throw everything they got left at the Orc hunters. Nite and Vlaliskia with the aid of Yowtrude find a different way of dealing with the hostilities. Through coaxing they calm the dire wolves are able to get them under their command for the time being.

Orc Blood now seeping into the rain soaked soil and two patrols that won't be reporting back, this campsite is no longer safe. Quietly in the night they move along to another location, in the bottom of a small basin to bed down. The showering rain tarnished with the smell of ash leads our heros to rest until morning.
