Chapter 2 - Session 10
Waking up along various parts of Mewer's lair, everyone gears up for a day of travel. Everyone except Vlaliskia who is overcome with a drunken haze from the previous night. Diana, Fyrn, and Benjamin drum up a plan on their next steps following the smoke from Moradin back to Trisfal in search of the Everburn Bracer. Before they set off Lilly makes a promise to Nite to stay clear of the Rubyagaric and with Mewer’s help to recover the rest affected by the fungal infection. Tying the unconscious dragon born to the side of Bram our heroes journey through the forest.
Trekking through the forest sharp cracks are heard in the distance. Following the sound the ground begins to shake a tremble as a stampede of animals heads towards them. The wave of scared creatures trample through weaving between the trees in an attempt to distance themselves from the origin of the echoing noise. Soon they all recognize the sounds of war swelling in the distance. The grinding of machines and snaps of splintering wood revel the orc’s attack on Trisfal has begun.
The fog covered city is now surrounded by blood thirsty orcs with a massive dragon head upon the nearby cliff aimed at the high rise bell tower of the Church of Maliclaine. The blue glow of Sentinel Yorham’s Spiritual Weapons dot the entrances of the city holding the orcs back and beams of holy energy shoot out of the bell tower in retaliation of the invaders.
Past the trees with a clear view Yowtrude pulls out her spyglass to peer out and sees that Chiefton Dumag Hackhand has the Everburn Bracer. With a fiery glow he plunges his hand into the machine made of the head of a Golden Dragon. A roar erupts as a scorching torrent spews forth completely engulfing the structures below. The orc army now wait for their moment to attack after the infernal destruction.
Watching the flames of Trisfal burn, Diana hears the sound of carriage wheels squeak and grind on the road behind them. The sound is muffled and just barely audible. She can not seem to find the source of the sound as it rolls just behind everyone and continues on it's way westward away from Trisfal.
Benjamin declares that now is the time to act. The orcs have the bracer, most of them have mobilized away from their fort, a path to sneak through is their best option to cease this destruction.
