Chapter 4 - Session 17

Jubilation and delight dance in the air as the lights from Drucdre’s Traveling Circus draw in the crowds. A pack of kobolds have set up a spread of fun and games. A welcome distraction from the toils of the world.

The group jump right into the festivities. Fyrn smashes the test of strength, slamming the comically large hammer hard enough to break the bell announcing her victory.

Diana steps inside a mysterious tent with a glowing ball that projects a mirror image of herself, begging Diana to play Simon Says.

Vlaliskia tempts fate with a tarot reading from a kobold strumming a long false mustache. Her fortune holds only taunting laughter from the unicycling jester Clyde.

Lynlyn stuffs their face in the eating contest, only to be bested by an even hungrier goliath. Belly round they now barely stumble along the fairgrounds.

The highlight of the night was the battle with an automaton. The large dancing robot dared any patrons to attempt to break through their thick armor. Only a complete success would result in glorious prizes.

Adrenaline rushing, our band of heroes jump in at the chance. For the first time since coming back from Ilowinu Diana was able to exercise her full strength. Aasimar wings spread, full power at the hilt, launched a devastating blow, smashing the bot into pieces.

The night is far from over as Clyde cycled across the festival announcing the main attraction was about to begin. A show featuring live tigers, dangerous stunts, and death-defying acts.

The crowd pours into the big tent as Circus Leader Drucdre presents his troupe. Whip cracks and the tiger roars, the crowd is elated. However, smoke starts to pour in from the entrances, laughter gives way to cackles as a set of kobolds stammer in, throwing black bombs into the theater.

Quick to act Fyrn jumps to the front, unleashing a blaze from her fingers igniting the bag of bombs strapped to the poor kobold. A small whimper is eeked out before a resonating BOOM! The explosion burst out, tearing out the tent’s supports. The crowd panics and a hasty escape is underway. The pure chaos of the crowd only invites more confusion. The tiger is loose, the tent is falling, more explosions surround the field.

The splintering of wood signals the imminent failure of the final tent pole. They make a mad dash to the far exit pushing through the crowd. Tumbling out of the fallen tarp, the big top is now a bonfire. Nearby wizards start to use their magics in an attempt to douse the fire while others rush in to provide aid for those escaping the collapse.

Now outside Drucdre tracks down Fyrn. With a cold grimace he drills into the fire genasi. Now out of a tent, and his grounds filled with calamity he demands retribution for Fyrn breaking up what was part of his act.

But with the quick flick of her scaly hand, Vlaliskia lights a smoke bomb, grabs her friends by the hands, and makes their escape into the night... hopefully to never have to cross paths with the disgruntled kobold again.
